Let’s pause and ask ourselves a serious question: Am I consistent?
Not just in what I do for others—but in what I’ve promised God.
I’ve seen it, and maybe you have too—people who start strong. They show up once, maybe twice, eager to help, ready to serve, promising with bold words. But slowly, excuses start creeping in. “I’m busy.” “I forgot.” “Something came up.” And before long, they disappear completely. The same people who once ran to the front of the line now fall to the back without a word.
But this isn’t just about showing up for people—this is about showing up for God.
We make promises in the middle of prayer. We tell the Lord, “I’ll do better. I’ll serve You more. I’ll stop doing that. I’ll go where You send me.” And then what happens? We give Him a day or two, maybe even three. But when life gets hard or busy, the excuses roll in. We slowly fade. Just like the tide, we come close, then pull away… again and again.
James 1:6 paints this picture:
“…for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
And James 1:23-24 reminds us:
“Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
Inconsistency clouds identity. If you don’t know who you are in Christ, you’ll keep drifting.
Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 gives us this firm reminder:
“When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.”
God isn’t asking us to overcommit or perform. He’s asking for faithfulness, not flashiness.
So today, slow down. Be honest. Take inventory of your commitments—especially to the Lord. Don’t be quick to say yes, be quick to count the cost (Luke 14:28).
Ask yourself:
🟡 Am I consistent?
🟡 Do I follow through?
🟡 Can God trust me to finish what I start?
Let’s be people who are steady, faithful, and true. Because Jesus never quit on us.

Man I needed this one. Exactly what I have been struggling with in my life. Been praying to develop a more consistent, faithful and obedient relationship with Christ. Convicting but needed thought for the day!
