This morning I was struck by a profound statement from my brother Lance in our Men’s Alliance Waynaker Tribe group. He said:
“I am very comfortable with being uncomfortable with where God has me on my journey.”
That hit hard.
Too many of us chase comfort, but the truth is — growth rarely happens in comfort zones. Just like going to the gym, if you’re never sore, never sweating, never being stretched… then you’re not growing. You’re maintaining. But God didn’t call us to maintain — He called us to mature.
The discomfort you’re feeling? That tension in your spirit? That season where you’re unsure, stretched, even broken at times? That’s the spiritual equivalent of lifting heavy weight.
The apostle James puts it like this:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
— James 1:2–4 (NIV)
God doesn’t bring discomfort to punish us. He allows it to strengthen our character, deepen our faith, and strip away the things that keep us from full dependence on Him.
So today, embrace the uncomfortable moments. Lean into them. Don’t ask God to remove the discomfort — ask Him to reveal what He’s building through it.
Because the truth is this:
A faith that has not been tested, cannot be trusted.
Be like my brother Lance — comfortable being uncomfortable — knowing that wherever God has you, He’s using it for your good and His glory.
