Built on the Rock — Not Every Storm Is Satan

Scripture:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.”

— Matthew 7:24–25 (NASB1995)

Reflection:

The rain will fall.

The floods will rise.

The wind will blow.

That’s not prophecy — that’s life.

And here’s something we need to understand clearly:

Not every storm is Satan.

Sometimes when hardship hits, the first response is, “The enemy is attacking me.” But we have to be careful not to give Satan authority he doesn’t have. He is not omnipresent. He is not all-powerful. He is not God.

Sometimes it’s not an attack.

Sometimes it’s not even a test.

Sometimes… it’s simply life unfolding in a broken world.

Jesus didn’t say the wise man avoids storms. He said he stands through them.

The power isn’t in identifying the storm’s source — the power is in the foundation beneath your feet.

And here’s the beautiful truth:

God will use every situation.

That does not mean He causes every hardship.

It does mean nothing is wasted.

He uses disappointment.

He uses delay.

He uses loss.

He uses uncertainty.

Whether we see it in the moment or not, He is always working. What looks bleak to us can still be shaped for good in His hands.

The storm may not be from Satan.

It may not even be from you.

But it can still be used by God.

Encouragement:

Don’t magnify the storm.

Don’t magnify the enemy.

Magnify the Rock.

Build your life on Christ — in His Word, in obedience, in trust.

Because when life happens — and it will —

a firm foundation in Him is what keeps you standing.

Stand steady.

You’re built on something unshakable.
