Contentment

One of my brothers in Christ shared something that I think many of us struggle with.

He said, “Being content is difficult for me. I always want to be the best at everything.”

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that’s a trap many of us fall into. We chase perfection because we think that’s where peace is found. We tell ourselves that if we can just perform a little better, accomplish a little more, or be the best, then we’ll finally be content.

But perfection is a moving target. You may hit it once, but it always moves, leaving you exhausted and disappointed.

God never called us to be the best at everything. He called us to be faithful. To love Him. To love others. To use the gifts He gave us for His glory.

There is freedom in learning to laugh at yourself. There is joy in small victories. There is peace in knowing your identity isn’t found in your performance but in Christ.

Whether you shoot an 80 or a 99, whether you succeed or struggle, your value never changes because your worth was settled at the cross.

Today, stop chasing perfection. Chase Christ.

“I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.” — Philippians 4:11
