Don't use the Bible to fit your narrative. Let your narrative fit the Bible.

Don't use the Bible to fit your narrative.

Let your narrative fit the Bible.

Scripture:

“Try your best to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth.”

— 2 Timothy 2:15 (CJB)

Reflection:

Too many people want to bend Scripture until it agrees with what they already want, already feel, or already decided. But the Word of God was never meant to be edited by our emotions, preferences, culture, or personal opinion. It was given to correct us, guide us, convict us, and transform us.

We are not called to make the Bible fit our narrative. We are called to lay down our narrative and let God write it His way.

When we only grab verses that support what we want while ignoring the rest, we stop submitting to God and start trying to use Him to justify ourselves. That is dangerous ground. God’s Word is truth whether it comforts us or confronts us. Whether it agrees with our flesh or cuts against it, it is still right.

A faithful believer does not ask, “How can I make this Scripture support me?”

A faithful believer asks, “How do I need to change so my life lines up with this Scripture?”

Encouragement:

Let the Word challenge you, not just comfort you. Let it correct you, not just confirm you. Real growth begins when we stop asking God to bless our version of truth and instead humble ourselves before His.

His Word does not need to adjust to us. We need to adjust to Him.
