Don’t Worry About What’s Next

Scripture (CJB):

“Don’t worry about tomorrow — tomorrow will worry about itself! Today has enough tsuris already!”

— Matthew 6:34

Reflection:

This morning I was talking with a brother about renovating our upstairs. We converted what used to be a media room into a master bedroom — something I know my wife will love.

And like every renovation, the questions started flying:

What about this wall?

Where will that go?

What’s the next step?

How are we going to figure that out?

But I kept saying the same thing:

Let’s focus on the closet.

That was the task in front of us. Not the lighting. Not the trim. Not the décor. The closet.

Finish the closet.

I used to be terrible at this. I’d start five things at once. Half-done projects everywhere. Frustration rising. Nothing fully completed. I thought multitasking meant progress. It didn’t. It meant divided focus.

God finally showed me something simple but powerful:

Complete the task in front of you. Then move to the next one.

You can get 10% done on 50 things…

Or 100% done on 20 things.

Completion builds momentum. Scattered effort builds stress.

And here’s the deeper issue — most of our anxiety isn’t about the present. It’s about what’s next.

“What if…?”

“What’s coming?”

“How will that work out?”

If you truly trust God, then what’s next doesn’t need your worry. It needs your faith.

The unknown is where fear tries to live. But the unknown is also where God does His best work.

You can’t finish today’s assignment if your mind is living in tomorrow.

Encouragement:

What is the closet in your life right now?

What is the one clear task in front of you?

Finish it.

Trust that God is already in your tomorrow. Even if it doesn’t unfold the way you imagined, He has it. He always has.

Stop chasing what’s next.

Stop worrying about what hasn’t arrived.

Focus on what’s in your hands today.

Complete it.

Honor God in it.

Then move forward.

Tomorrow will come whether you stress about it or not.

So walk faithfully today.
