Thought of The Day

Every Part Matters

Every Part Matters

Scripture:
“Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, ‘How awesome are Your works!’ Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name.” — Psalm 66:1-4

Reflection:

Yesterday was day three of our mission trip, and it was another day filled with hard work, fellowship, laughter, worship, and moments where God spoke clearly in the middle of ordinary things.

As we continued working on the dorm and serving alongside one another, I found some time to walk alone through an avocado orchard. Sometimes God speaks the loudest when we get away from the noise and simply spend time with Him.

As I walked, one particular tree caught my attention. It stood taller than everything else around it. It was large, strong, and impossible to miss. Surrounding it were rows of avocado trees, and beneath those trees was grass covering the ground.

The orchard wasn’t maintained the way many people might expect. The grass wasn’t perfectly trimmed. The ground wasn’t cleared and spotless. Instead, everything existed together in harmony. The avocado trees produced fruit. The grass fed the cattle. Every part served a purpose.

As I stood there looking at that large tree, God placed something on my heart.

Everyone wants to be the big tree.

Everyone wants to be noticed.

Everyone wants to do what appears to be the important work.

Everyone wants the position that others can see.

But what if everyone was the big tree?

If everything was the tall tree, there would be no avocado trees producing fruit. There would be no grass feeding the cattle. There would be no balance. There would be no provision.

The reality is that God never designed His Kingdom for everyone to have the same role.

The world teaches us to chase importance, status, titles, recognition, and influence. We often measure value by visibility. But God’s Kingdom doesn’t work that way.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that the Body of Christ has many parts, and every part is necessary. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head cannot say to the feet, “You are not important.”

Every part matters.

The person preaching matters.

The person praying matters.

The person serving food matters.

The person cleaning up afterward matters.

The person encouraging others matters.

The person quietly serving behind the scenes matters.

God doesn’t measure our importance by how visible we are. He measures our faithfulness by how willing we are to fulfill the purpose He created us for.

As I reflected on that orchard, I couldn’t help but think about the twelve men who came on this mission trip.

Twelve men.

Different ages.

Different backgrounds.

Different stories.

Different strengths.

Just like the twelve disciples.

Jesus didn’t call twelve identical men. He called ordinary people from different walks of life and united them for a purpose greater than themselves.

The same thing has been happening here this week.

Each day, it seems like God meets a different man in a different way. One man’s cup is filled through serving. Another’s through fellowship. Another’s through worship. Another’s through a quiet moment alone with God.

Each of us arrived carrying different burdens, different expectations, and different needs.

Yet God knows exactly how to minister to each one.

Later that evening, we attended church.

Most of us don’t speak Spanish, yet God reminded me that His Spirit is not limited by language.

As worship began, I watched the worship leader sing with such passion and love for Christ that I didn’t need to understand every word. I knew when she was singing about Jesus. I could see the joy, devotion, and surrender in her worship.

Then something happened that caught me completely off guard.

The Holy Spirit moved in that place.

As I stood there worshiping alongside believers from another country, tears began to fill my eyes. It wasn’t because I understood the language. It was because I recognized the presence of God. The same Holy Spirit moving in our churches was moving there. The same Savior we worship at home was being glorified in that room.

In that moment, God reminded me that Christ unites what the world divides.

Different languages.

Different cultures.

Different backgrounds.

One Savior.

One Spirit.

One family.

After the service, we shared food and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Despite the language barrier, the room was filled with laughter, smiles, hugs, and joy. You would never have known many of us couldn’t speak the same language because our hearts were united in Christ.

It reminded me of something we often forget.

The Kingdom of God is so much bigger than our church, our city, our denomination, or even our country.

One day, people from every tribe, every tongue, every nation, and every people group will stand before the throne worshiping together.

Yesterday, I got a small glimpse of that reality.

And it was beautiful.

God used an orchard to remind me that every part matters.

God used twelve men to remind me that every calling matters.

God used a worship service in a language I barely understand to remind me that Christ unites us all.

No matter where you are today, don’t spend your life trying to be someone else.

Don’t spend your life wishing you had another person’s gifts, influence, platform, or position.

Instead, be faithful where God has planted you.

Whether you are the big tree, the avocado tree, or the grass beneath it all, your purpose matters.

Because in God’s Kingdom, faithfulness will always be more important than visibility.

And when every part fulfills its purpose, God is glorified.

Encouragement:

Today, thank God for the role He has given you. Stop comparing your calling to someone else’s. The Kingdom needs every part working together. Serve faithfully, love deeply, worship passionately, and remember that your value comes from being God’s child—not from being noticed by others.
