Give to Glorify God, Not Yourself

Matthew 6:3–4 (NKJV)

“But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.”

There is something powerful about doing something good for someone and never telling another soul about it.

We live in a world where acts of kindness are often photographed, recorded, posted, and shared. Sometimes, before we even help someone, we’re already thinking about how others might react to what we’ve done.

But Jesus challenges us to examine our hearts. Are we helping others because we genuinely love them, or because we want others to see how generous and compassionate we are?

Now, there’s nothing inherently wrong with sharing a testimony of generosity. Sometimes those stories encourage others to give. But there’s a difference between sharing something to glorify God and sharing something to receive glory for ourselves.

Think about this: If nobody ever knew what you did for someone, would you still do it?

Would you still give that money? Would you still buy that meal? Would you still sacrifice your time to help someone in need?

True generosity doesn’t need an audience because it already has One.

God sees the things nobody else sees. He knows the sacrifices you make, the kindness you show, and, most importantly, the condition of your heart when you do them.

And here’s something else worth remembering: We should never make someone else’s hardship an opportunity to showcase our own goodness.

Sometimes the greatest act of love is the one nobody ever hears about.

Today’s Reflection:

When was the last time you did something for someone without expecting recognition, appreciation, or even a thank-you?

Today’s Challenge:

Find an opportunity to bless someone today. Don’t post about it. Don’t tell anyone about it. Don’t look for recognition.

Just do it because Christ has called us to love one another.

Remember, you don’t need the applause of people when you have the approval of God.

Be the light. Share His love. Give Him the glory.
