God Just Wants to Hear Your Voice

Scripture — Psalm 100:1–2

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.”

— Psalm 100:1–2 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

God doesn’t care what your voice sounds like. He just wants to hear it.

I have tried to encourage several people in my life to sing during worship, but they always seem to have a reason not to. Some say they cannot sing. Others are worried they will look foolish or wonder what the people around them might think. Some even say they do not know the words—while the words are displayed right in front of them.

But here is the sad reality: many of us have no problem lifting our voices to God when we need something. When we are troubled, frightened, hurting, or when life is not going our way, we cry out to Him without worrying about how we sound.

Why, then, are we so hesitant to use that same voice to praise Him?

Worship is our opportunity to thank God for what He has done, remind ourselves of His faithfulness, and proclaim the promises He will continue to keep. It is not a performance, and God is not judging the quality of our singing.

He is not listening for a perfect voice. He is listening for a surrendered heart.

God does not care whether your voice is in tune. He wants your heart to be in tune with Him—through worship, prayer, conversation, and relationship.

Maybe if you would simply give it a chance—open your mouth, lift your voice, and let the praise come out—you might experience God’s presence in a way you never have before.

Perhaps that is what some people are afraid of: that they might actually feel something. That the walls might come down. That worship might become real.

Today, lift your voice to God. Sing loudly. Sing freely. Sing as though no one else is around.

Do not let God hear your voice only when you need something. Let Him also hear it when you are thanking Him for everything He has already done.

God just wants to hear you.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I have been quick to cry out when I needed something but hesitant to lift my voice in praise. Help me worship You without fear, embarrassment, or concern about what others may think. Tune my heart to Yours and let my praise come from a place of gratitude, surrender, and love. You have been faithful, You are worthy, and I will lift my voice to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One of the moments I've come to recognize and cherish about my day is in the morning taking my son to school praising and worshipping God in the car while taking my son to school. Some mornings He wakes me up with a song on my heart and I've noticed that He does the same with Jaxson as well, I seen him wake up from a dead sleep singing to God, it's beautiful how God works

Not 5 min ago I was singing and praising God in the car with my family. I am not known for my beautiful singing voice but when praising Him, it truly doesn't matter. I literally just said, God knew when He made me this would be my voice and if He truly cared what it sounded like, it would sound different. He loves that I praise and worship Him by singing, He doesn't care about the rest.
