Growth Through Action
Sometimes the hardest part about change is being honest about what needs to change. We often pray for freedom while still holding onto the very thing keeping us bound. Real growth begins when we stop making excuses and start taking action.
When you recognize something in your life that needs to change, look at three things:
- What does the Bible say about it?
God’s Word is our foundation. The world may normalize certain behaviors, but Scripture helps us see clearly what honors God and what pulls us away from Him. - What is God teaching you through it?
Every struggle reveals something deeper. Sometimes God is exposing unhealthy habits, misplaced priorities, lack of trust, emotional wounds, or areas where we need discipline and dependence on Him. - What are you going to do about it?
Change requires action. Prayer is essential, but obedience matters too. Sometimes freedom means creating boundaries, removing temptation, asking for accountability, or making uncomfortable decisions.
I’ve personally had addictions and struggles God has helped me let go of over the years. One of the most recent ones I recognized was shopping. Some people may laugh at that, but anything done in excess can become an addiction. We are called to be good stewards of our finances, our minds, our time, and every area of life God has entrusted to us.
For me, action looked like this: I had my wife change the password to our Amazon account and I deleted Amazon from my phone. Why? Because we take whatever steps are necessary to live the way God intended us to live and to faithfully steward what He provides.
Freedom often starts with honesty and grows through action.
Scripture:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; look, what has come is fresh and new!”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (CJB)
Encouragement:
Don’t be ashamed of the areas God is revealing in your life. Conviction is not condemnation; it is an invitation to grow. Small acts of obedience today can lead to lasting freedom tomorrow.
