Healing Begins With Ownership

Scripture (CJB):

“He who conceals his sins will not succeed, but he who confesses and abandons them will gain mercy.”

Mishlei (Proverbs) 28:13

Reflection:

Healing and repentance begin the moment we take ownership of our mistakes. Too often, when we make the wrong choice, we look for someone else to blame. It was their fault because they did this to me. I was angry because of work. I reacted because of what someone else said or did.

But the truth is this: it wasn’t their choice—it was ours. God gives us free will. In every moment, we choose. We choose obedience or rebellion. We choose the Spirit or the flesh. We choose God or we choose the enemy. Circumstances may influence us, but they never force us. There is always another path available, even when it’s harder.

As long as we point the finger outward, true repentance cannot begin. And if repentance hasn’t begun, healing cannot follow. Confession isn’t blaming—it’s owning. It’s standing before God and saying, This was my sin. This was my choice. I need You to change me.

Encouragement:

If you want healing, stop defending the sin and start confessing it. God is faithful, merciful, and ready to forgive—but repentance requires honesty. You cannot change what you refuse to own. And the moment you take responsibility, grace meets you there. Choose truth. Choose repentance. Choose the path that leads back to life.
