Judge Not Without Mercy

Judge Not Without Mercy

It’s amazing how quickly people can be condemned by a single accusation. Someone makes a statement about another person, and without asking a single question or seeking any facts, others accept it as truth. Relationships are broken, reputations are damaged, and judgment is passed before the person ever has a chance to speak. Scripture calls this gossip, and it warns us against bearing false witness and judging unrighteously.

Now imagine if God treated us the same way. What if every accusation against us was accepted without mercy? What if there was no opportunity for repentance, no grace, no forgiveness? We would all stand condemned. But God is not like that. He knows every detail, every motive, every circumstance. He is perfectly just, yet rich in mercy. Instead of condemning us, He sent His one and only Son to die for us so that we could receive forgiveness we could never earn.

So why do we so often ask God for grace while refusing to extend it to others? Why do we long for understanding when we’re the ones being judged, yet rush to judgment when it’s someone else?

Before you believe every accusation, ask questions. Before you repeat a rumor, stop. Before you judge someone, put yourself in their place. If it were you, would you want people to assume the worst? Or would you hope someone would show the same grace and mercy that God has shown you?

“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” — John 7:24
