Perfect Isn’t the Goal
Scripture:
“I have learned to be content regardless of circumstances.” — Philippians 4:11 (CJB)
Reflection:
One of the lessons God has been teaching us during this mission trip is that perfection is often the enemy of gratitude.
We are accustomed to having access to whatever tools, materials, and resources we need. When something is missing, we simply go get it. But here, resources are limited. Materials are scarce. We’ve had to learn to work with what is available rather than what we wish we had.
In doing so, we’ve discovered something important: when we constantly chase our own definition of perfection, we often find disappointment. We become focused on what is missing instead of being thankful for what God has already provided.
God never promised us perfect circumstances. He promised His presence, His provision, and His faithfulness.
The question isn’t whether we have everything we want. The question is whether we are willing to faithfully use what God has placed in our hands.
Just as Jesus fed thousands with a few loaves and fish, God can accomplish extraordinary things through ordinary resources surrendered to Him. What matters is not the abundance of our resources but the faithfulness of our stewardship.
Today, instead of focusing on what you lack, thank God for what He has provided. Trust that His provision is sufficient for the work He has called you to do.
Encouragement:
Don’t allow the pursuit of perfection to steal your gratitude. What God has provided is enough for today. Use it faithfully, trust Him completely, and watch what He can do with it.
