Pray Without Ceasing

Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (CJB), “pray regularly” (or in many translations, “pray without ceasing”). This isn’t about just our scheduled prayer time in the morning or evening—it’s about living in constant communication with our Father.

Every breath we take is a gift, and with that breath, we can thank Him. From the moment we wake up, we should be asking:

  • “Lord, open my eyes to see what You want me to see today.”
  • “Open my ears to hear Your voice.”
  • “Open my heart, my mind, my soul, so that I don’t miss what You have for me.”

Prayer is more than requests—it’s worship, praise, thanksgiving, repentance, intercession, and surrender. Sometimes it’s praying Scripture back to God, sometimes it’s crying out for His will to be done, sometimes it’s standing in the gap for someone else.

But here’s the truth: when you feel distant from God, check your prayer life. Often, that gap comes from neglecting the time of communication He desires with you. He longs to hear your voice—not just asking for things, but thanking Him, praising Him, and lifting up others.

So today, let’s commit ourselves to walking in continual prayer. Not just words spoken in quiet time, but a heart posture that stays connected to Him all day long.
