Pulled From the Fire
Last night, as we stood around the fire during the ceremony, it hit me how real that moment is. When you get close to a fire, there’s warmth, light, and purpose—but if it gets too high or too hot, it becomes dangerous. And there’s always that brother who speaks up: “Hey, watch out.” The one who pulls you back before you get burned.
That’s what true brotherhood looks like—someone willing to step in, even when you don’t realize the danger you’re in.
Now take that one step further.
Imagine if there was no one there to pull you back. Imagine if Jesus looked at us—standing far too close to the fire—and chose not to step in. Not to sacrifice Himself. Not to pull us from the eternal fire.
But He did.
Many of us can think of moments in our lives when we say, “If it wasn’t for them, I might not be here.” When someone else’s actions saved us. Those moments create bonds. Gratitude. Reverence.
That’s exactly what Jesus did for us—on a far greater scale.
Scripture (CJB):
“Rescue them from the fire.”
—Jude 1:23
Jesus pulled us from the fire. He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t turn away. He stepped in, paid the price, and made a way for us to live.
So today, thank that brother who warned you. Thank the brother who pulled you back. And above all, thank Jesus—our Savior, our Redeemer, our Brother—who made us heirs to the throne.
Acknowledge Him. Honor Him. Walk with Him.
Don’t get burned.
“Therefore, since the children share a common physical nature, he also shared in it, so that by his death he might render ineffective the one who had power over death.”
—Hebrews 2:14 (CJB)
Be grateful. Stay close—but not too close. And walk today knowing you were pulled from the fire by love.
