Redeemed by Grace, Guided by Purpose
Scripture:
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself.”
— Ephesians 1:7–9 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Before Paul tells believers how they should live, he reminds them of who they are in Christ. That’s a powerful truth for us today—our identity comes before our activity.
Because of Jesus, we have been redeemed. We have been bought back by His precious blood. Our past failures, regrets, and mistakes no longer define us because God’s grace is greater than our greatest sin. He didn’t reluctantly forgive us; He lavishly poured out His grace upon us.
But God’s work doesn’t stop at forgiveness. He also gives us purpose. As we walk closely with Him, He faithfully reveals His will one step at a time. We may not always see the entire path ahead, but we can trust the One who does.
Too many people allow yesterday’s failures to keep them from today’s calling. They hesitate to serve, lead, forgive, or move forward because they believe their past disqualifies them. Yet Christ has already paid the debt in full. Our confidence isn’t found in having a perfect history—it is found in belonging to a perfect Savior.
Today, remember this truth:
You are forgiven.
You are redeemed.
You are chosen.
You have a purpose.
God’s grace doesn’t simply erase yesterday—it empowers you to faithfully live today and prepares you for what He has planned tomorrow.
Encouragement:
Don’t allow guilt to speak louder than God’s grace. Thank Him today for redeeming you and ask Him to reveal the next faithful step in His purpose for your life. Walk confidently, knowing your future is determined by His grace, not your past.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for redeeming me through the blood of Jesus and for forgiving all my sins. Thank You that Your grace is greater than my failures and Your mercy is new every morning. Help me release every burden of guilt and shame and walk confidently in the identity You have given me. Reveal Your purpose for my life one step at a time, and give me the faith to trust You even when I cannot see the entire path. May my life reflect the riches of Your grace and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
