Rest in His Peace

Scripture:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
— Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

Reflection:
There is a difference between asking God to take something from us and actually giving it to Him.

So many times, when life becomes chaotic and anxiety, fear, and restlessness creep in, we pray, “Father God, take this from me. I give this to You.”

But then we keep carrying it.

We keep worrying. We keep trying to figure everything out. We keep playing out every possible scenario in our minds.

Maybe the question isn’t whether God is willing to take the burden.

Maybe the question is: Are we willing to let it go?

Isaiah tells us that God keeps us in perfect peace when our minds remain fixed on Him because we trust Him.

That’s the key: trust.

I can look back over my life and see that God has provided before. He has made a way before. He has redirected my steps when I’ve taken a wrong turn. Things haven’t always happened the way I wanted them to, but God has remained faithful through all of it.

Sometimes we surrender something in prayer and then pick it right back up through worry.

It’s like carrying a heavy bag everywhere we go. Someone stronger comes along and says, “Give it to me. I’ll carry it.” We hand it over, but a few moments later, we reach out and take it back.

How often do we do that with God?

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:25–34 that our Heavenly Father knows what we need and tells us not to worry about tomorrow. And when fear returns, we can respond like David:

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
— Psalm 56:3 (NKJV)

The enemy wants fear to whisper, “What if God doesn’t provide this time?”

Faith answers, “But God has been faithful every time.”

Resting in God doesn’t mean believing everything will happen exactly the way we want. It means trusting that even when things don’t go according to our plans, God can still direct our steps according to His.

So ask yourself today:

When I tell God, “I give this to You,” am I truly giving it away—or am I planning to pick it back up?

When you truly trust the One you’re giving it to, you don’t have to keep carrying it.

Encouragement:
Whatever you are carrying today, give it to God.

Not temporarily. Not until anxiety convinces you to pick it back up. Surrender it and trust the One you surrendered it to.

When worry returns, remember His faithfulness.

When fear says, “What if?” remind yourself of all the times God has already said, “I’ve got you.”

You may not know how the situation will work out. You may not understand what God is doing. The answer may look completely different from what you expected.

But you know Who is holding it.

Give it to Him.
Trust Him with it.
Leave it with Him.
And rest in His peace.

Prayer:
Father God, today I give You every fear, every anxious thought, every uncertainty, and every burden I have been carrying.

I don’t want to simply ask You to take these things while I continue holding onto them. I choose to trust You.

You have provided before. You have guided me before. You have redirected my steps when I needed redirection, and You have remained faithful even when life didn’t happen the way I thought it should.

So today, Father, I surrender it all to You.

When anxiety tries to return, remind me of Your faithfulness. When fear tells me I need to take control, remind me that You are already in control.

Help me not to pick back up what I have placed in Your hands.

Teach me to rest in You—not because everything around me is peaceful, but because my peace comes from knowing that You are with me.

Today, I choose faith over fear, trust over anxiety, and surrender over control.

I give it to You, Father. I trust You with it. And I will rest in Your peace.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
