Sometimes Love Pushes
Scripture:
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
— Mishlei (Proverbs) 27:17, CJB
Reflection:
The last few days I haven’t felt well and found myself sleeping more than usual. After working a few hours, I was ready to do the same—until a brother of mine, out of love, gave me a hard time. It wasn’t comfortable, but it was honest. There was truth in what he said, and instead of letting me settle where I was, he pushed me to fight through it. And in doing so, I actually started feeling better.
That’s when it hit me: sometimes the love we need from a brother isn’t acceptance—it’s accountability. Not enabling where we are, but calling us forward to where God is leading us.
Encouragement:
Ask yourself today: do I simply accept where my brother is, or do I love him enough to push him toward who God has called him to be? True brotherhood sharpens, challenges, and strengthens—not to tear down, but to build up.
