Sometimes Trying to Be Right Can Make You Wrong
Scripture (CJB):
“Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.”
—1 Corinthians 8:1
Reflection:
There are moments when we cling so tightly to being right that we forget to be loving. Scripture reminds us that truth without humility can harden the heart. Jesus never compromised truth, yet He always led with grace. When being right becomes more important than restoring a relationship, listening with compassion, or reflecting Christ, we can miss the very heart of God. Pride may win the argument, but love wins the soul.
Encouragement:
Before defending your position, pause and ask: Am I seeking to honor God or just to prove a point? A gentle spirit often speaks louder than a perfect argument. Choose humility, choose love, and trust that God will handle the rest. “If someone thinks he knows something, he doesn’t yet know in the way he ought to know” (1 Corinthians 8:2). Walk in truth—but always wrapped in grace.
