Today marks something special. It’s been three years since I was baptized—three years of walking in surrender, and today, my son followed that same path.
I had just returned from serving 4 days at a youth retreat and I had not been in the door maybe 5 minutes when he texted me,
“Not sure if you were praying for me at all this weekend but thought l'd let you know I just had this moment, I broke down and gave it all to him, it took a lot but I let it all out and felt the Holy Spirit connecting and bringing me back but you were a big reason I was able to do so and I just wanted to say thanks and that I love you”
That moment broke me—in the best way. As a father, I once felt shame for not being the spiritual leader my children needed when they were younger. But God reminded me that it’s never too late. When we begin to walk in Christ, sincerely and openly, our children and others see the change. And sometimes, that’s the seed that God uses to grow something eternal.
Baptism isn’t what saves you. Jesus does. But baptism is your public declaration that says, “I belong to Christ.” It’s like a wedding ring in a marriage—a visible sign of a sacred covenant.
So if you’ve just come to Christ, or if you’ve walked with Him for years but felt like you missed your chance to lead others—know this: you haven’t. You’re an influence. Someone is watching. Walk in love, grace, and truth. Live it out, and others will follow.
Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Live that new life boldly. Let the world know who you belong to.
Thank You Father God for your Grace, Mercy and Love. Thank you for pulling me from the fire.
Your Humble Servant
