Tenderhearted on Purpose
Scripture (CJB):
“Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted; and forgive each other, just as in the Messiah God has also forgiven you.”
— Ephesians 4:32
Reflection:
Kindness is not weakness. Tenderheartedness is not compromise. Forgiveness is not approval of wrong.
This verse is not passive. It is intentional. It calls us to choose a posture.
Be kind.
Be tenderhearted.
Forgive.
Not because people deserve it. Not because it’s easy. But because we have been forgiven first.
The standard isn’t culture.
The standard isn’t how we feel.
The standard is how the Messiah has treated us.
When we truly understand the weight of our own forgiveness, it becomes much harder to hold onto bitterness. When we remember how patient God has been with us, it reshapes how we respond to others.
Kindness is strength under control.
Tenderheartedness is a heart that refuses to grow calloused.
Forgiveness is freedom — for them and for you.
In a world that celebrates harshness, the believer is called to something higher.
Encouragement:
Today, be intentional.
Respond gently when you could react harshly.
Listen fully when you could interrupt.
Forgive quickly when you feel justified in holding on.
You are never more like Christ than when you forgive.
Let your heart stay soft. Let your spirit stay steady. And let your actions reflect the mercy that has already been poured out over your life.
Walk in it today.
