We live in a world that gives us too much access to information. The 24-hour news cycle, endless scrolling on social media, constant opinions, arguments, and updates… It’s overwhelming. And worse—it’s confusing.
The problem is, we’ve forgotten how to discern what’s true and what’s not. The world throws so many “truths” at us, but only one truth matters—and that’s God’s truth.
People post highlight reels on social media, painting a picture-perfect life. But friend, don’t be fooled—everyone has struggles. Most folks just don’t post about their pain, their doubts, or their fears. So we compare our behind-the-scenes with someone else’s edited highlight reel, and we wonder why we feel like we’re not enough.
That kind of comparison leads to unhealthy thinking, distorted self-worth, and a view of the world that has nothing to do with reality—or God’s purpose for our lives.
Even in the news, we don’t know what we can trust anymore. It’s just noise. God isn’t in the noise—He’s in the whisper (1 Kings 19:12). And He tells us what we need to know, when we’re ready to receive it.
Let me give you a personal example… When I began walking the path toward becoming a pastor, I didn’t plan it. I was just visiting a bookstore, buying some books. And the woman behind the counter looked at me and said, “Where are you a pastor?” I told her, “I’m not.” And she said, “God says you are.” That was the first time. Then it happened again… and again. And all I could do was lean into it, not knowing the whole path—just trusting Him step by step.
And isn’t that just like our God?
If He showed us everything from beginning to end, we’d either run away or try to skip the hard parts. We’d miss the growth, the character, and the dependence on Him that only the journey can bring.
Jesus said in John 16:12,
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”
God gives us what we can handle, when we can handle it. That’s grace. That’s love.
So today, I want to encourage you:
-
Turn off the noise.
-
Stop scrolling.
-
Open the Book.
-
Seek the Whisper.
God’s not asking you to know everything—He’s asking you to trust Him in everything.
There’s freedom in not knowing.
There’s peace in letting go.
There’s joy in hearing from the only Voice that matters.
Be still and know that He is God. (Psalm 46:10)
