Truth Begins With Humility
Scripture:
“If we claim not to have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we acknowledge our sins, then, since he is trustworthy and just, he will forgive them and purify us from all wrongdoing. If we claim we have not been sinning, we are making him out to be a liar, and his Word is not in us.”
— 1 Yochanan (1 Jo) 1:8–10, CJB
Reflection:
One of the quiet dangers in the faith walk is pretending we’ve arrived. Scripture is clear: denying our sin doesn’t make us righteous—it makes us dishonest. Not just with others, but with ourselves and with God. The truth is, we don’t grow by hiding our brokenness; we grow by bringing it into the light. Confession isn’t weakness—it’s alignment. It’s choosing truth over image, humility over pride.
Encouragement:
God is not looking for perfection; He is looking for honesty. When we acknowledge our sin, we step into His faithfulness. He forgives. He cleanses. He restores. Today, don’t wear a mask—walk in truth. Freedom always begins there.
