What Needs to Be Resurrected?

This morning, as I was praying and reflecting, God showed me something about resurrection.

So often, when we hear the word resurrection, we think only of someone who has physically died being brought back to life. But resurrection is bigger than that.

There are spiritual resurrections.

There are relationship resurrections.

There are dreams, callings, and hopes that seem dead but are waiting for God to breathe life into them again.

What does resurrection require?

It requires faith.

It requires believing that God is still able to do what seems impossible. It requires trusting that what looks dead isn’t beyond His power to restore.

In the beginning, God breathed life into Adam. When Jesus died and rose again, He made a way for us to be spiritually resurrected through faith in Him. Because He lives, we have life—both now and for eternity.

That made me ask myself a question:

What in my life is dead or dying that needs to be resurrected?

Maybe it’s your relationship with God.

Maybe it’s your marriage.

Maybe it’s a friendship, a calling, your hope, or your purpose.

Then another thought came to me.

What if you’re waiting for someone else to breathe life into the situation?

What if the relationship is waiting on you to forgive first… to encourage first… to apologize first… to love first… to pray first?

Sometimes we’re waiting for someone else to make the first move, while God is gently asking us to take the first step.

That doesn’t mean every relationship can or should be restored—some situations require healthy boundaries, and restoration takes willing hearts on both sides. But we are always called to do our part in obedience to God.

You may not be able to control the outcome, but you can choose to be someone who speaks life instead of death, hope instead of despair, and grace instead of bitterness.

So today, ask yourself:

What in my life needs to be resurrected?

And if God is calling you to breathe life into that situation, don’t wait.

The same God who rolled the stone away is still in the business of bringing dead things back to life.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’” — John 11:25

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” — Romans 8:11
