When Fear Comes, Choose Trust

Scripture — Psalm 56:3–4

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?”

— Psalm 56:3–4 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

David did not say, “I am never afraid.” He said, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”

Fear may come, but it does not have to control us. Trust is the decision we make when fear tells us that our circumstances are greater than our God.

David turned his attention away from what people could do and placed it upon what God had spoken. He praised God’s Word because he knew God’s promises were stronger than every threat standing before him.

Faith is not pretending there is nothing to fear. Faith is remembering that there is nothing we will ever face without God.

People may disappoint us. Circumstances may shake us. The future may appear uncertain. But none of these things can change God’s character, cancel His promises, or remove us from His hands.

When fear comes—and it will—choose to trust. Speak God’s Word over your situation. Remember His faithfulness. Praise Him before the answer arrives.

Fear may knock at the door, but faith does not have to let it move in.

Today’s Prayer

Father, whenever fear begins to rise within me, help me turn my heart toward You. Remind me of Your promises and everything You have already brought me through. I choose to trust Your character, praise Your Word, and believe that You are greater than anything standing against me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
