When I Fails, God Prevails

If your thought begins with “I”, it ends in destruction. But if it begins with God, it ends in glory. Too often we wonder why we struggle, why we keep failing, why life feels heavy. The truth is simple: when we rely on I—I can do this, I can fix that, I will overcome—we’re leaning on the weakest foundation: ourselves. But when we put God first, everything changes: God helped me, God carried me, God made a way.

This truth doesn’t stop at the individual—it extends into marriage. God designed marriage to be a union, a covenant where two become one. There is no longer me or I, but we. And even then, that “we” only works when God is at the center. Because without Him, even “we” will struggle. But when husband and wife both put God first, they find unity, strength, and peace that no storm can break.

The problem isn’t always “out there.” Many times, the problem is I. The solution is always God.

“Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 (CJB)

“Therefore a man is to leave his father and mother and stick with his wife, and they are to be one flesh.”

Genesis 2:24 (CJB)
